Tech Faces First Road Test at Barry

the game

The series between Florida Tech and Barry University is one of the school’s longest-running, having played the Buccaneers a total of 54 times. Barry holds
a 33-21 advantage over the Panthers and has certainly controlled the series as of late, winning the last 12 straight over Tech. Both teams have a lot
riding on this, the first conference game of the season. The Panthers are trying to not only break the Bucs’ six-year streak, but also remain atop the SSC
standings and improve to 7-0. Barry, sitting at the bottom of league ranks, hopes to get to .500 with a win and of course continue its dominance over Tech
this decade.

Scouting the panthers

Florida Tech has yet to be tested on the road this season as all six wins have come in the Clemente Center and one on a neutral court at Amway Arena in
Orlando. No doubt, though, the Panthers have had this date circled on their calendars as the team’s first real test of the year and the team has reached
its goals so far, entering the contest with an unblemished record. They will need the momentum Saturday as they face last year’s co-SSC champion Buccaneers
in Miami Shores.

Scouting the Buccaneers

Barry enters Saturday’s game on a two-game win streak, though the Bucs are under .500 for the season at 3-4. Tech and Barry have already faced two common
opponents with both teams defeating UPR-Mayaguez and UPR-Cayey. The Buccaneers are most recently coming off a 79-51 win over Palm Beach Atlantic, which the
Panthers face next week.

The Bucs are led by Karega Tucker’s 16 ppg, while forward Willie Whitfield tops the team with 7.8 caroms per contest.
