Tech Falls 5-2 in SSC Softball Action

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.- Seniors Karen D’Alberto (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Jen Salls ( Madison, Fla.) score Tech’s two runs of the loss against #9 Barry University
(24-6, 8-2). The Florida Tech Panthers despite the loss are still in third place in the Sunshine State Conference, while Barry advances to the top spot
having one more win than Florida Southern.

Sophomore, Apopka native, Amber West (14-7) suffered the loss tossing a complete game allowing five earned runs on six hits. She walked two and fanned five
for the outing.

D’Alberto went 3-for-2 with the first run of the game, while fellow senior Megan Hube (Bel Air, Md.) also had two hits for the game. Senior catcher
Courtney Harless plated the only RBI off her solo hit of the game.

Juniors Katie Naumoff  (Poland, Ohio) and  Kristen Fettes (Deltona, Fla.) each also added a hit as did Salls for the contest.

The Buccaneers hurler Ramie Garcia (10-3) was the winning pitcher going five innings allowing seven hits on two runs. Maile Keeney was Barry’s savior for
the day notching  a home run and adding four RBI for the day.

Both teams will meet again tomorrow for more SSC doubleheader action beginning at 5:00 p.m. in Miami Shores, Florida.
