Tech Falls to Barry in Opening 2006 SSC Action

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.-The Barry Buccaneers rode hot shooting hands in the first half to an 82-61 win over the Florida Tech Panthers in Sunshine State
Conference men’s basketball action at the Health & Sports Center on Wednesday.

The Buc’s hit 63.2 percent from three-point range, connecting on 12 of 19 shots beyond the arc in the first half. Five different players drained shots for
long range, led by Melvin Triche who hit four-of-six.

Barry led 47-19 at the break.

In the second half, the Bucs extended the lead to 37 points. Jeff Willis hit a pair of free throws with 6:44 to play to put the Bucs up 79-42. But Barry
would score just three more points the rest of the way as the Panthers trimmed the final margin to 21 points.

Triche led all scorers with 26 points, while Amadou Fall added a double-double 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Phil Puccia had 11. The Panthers’ backcourt combination of E.J. Murray and Desmond Greene had 12 points and 11 points respectively.
