Tech Gets Shut Down By SSC Opponent Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Tech Panthers (1-3-1, 0-1) were unable to score against the Lynn Fighting Knights (4-0, 1-0) defense losing 8-0 in the
Sunshine State Conference match.   The win also marked the largest margin of victory against the Panthers in program history.  William Young led
the charge for the Fighting Knights, recording his first career multi-goal game to go along with three assists while Lee Paul Scroggins notched his second
multi-goal game of the season.

The Knights wasted little time getting on the board as Lee Porter notched his first career goal at 9:15.  The right fullback, who has had numerous
attempts on goal already, collected a pass on the far right wing, cut inside to the top of the box and fired a shot across his body to the right post for
the goal.

Scroggins put LU up 2-0 in the 12th minute after collecting a long header by Nano Short from midfield at the top of the Florida Tech (1-3-1) box.  The
junior midfielder made a quick turn on his defender and ripped a quick shot inside the right post.  SSC Player of the Week Chris Knox increased the
lead in the 29th minute when he rifled a shot from the far left wing that deflected off a Panthers defender’s back into the net.

Alessandro Salvatore, a freshman keeper from Austin, Tex., made his first career start in net for the Knights, tallying two saves in the first half.
The Panthers only real threat came in the fourth minute when sophmore Matt Danella (Palm Bay, FL) fired a shot from the far right wing that Salvatore made
a diving stop on.  The Knights defense accomplished its goal of holding its opponents to zero goals and only three shots on net.

Scroggins made his presence known in the 35th minute of play with an across the body shot that just barely made it into the net.  Scroggins set a long
cross just inside the Panthers zone to the far post.  Young hustled to the goal line and got off an off-balance shot that hit underneath the cross bar
and bounced into the left side of the net.  The first-year Knight increased his goal total with only 45 seconds remaining in the half when he
re-directed Leon Jackson’s shot off of Hiroshi Ando’s corner kick to put LU up 5-0.

Again, the Knights wasted little time in the second half as Scroggins scored his fifth goal of the season at 48:04.  The Panthers took too much time
getting their wall together and Scroggins caught keeper Cory Collins off his line and punched it into the near post.

Although he came up short of the hat trick for goals, Young was able to get the hat trick for assists, setting up Courtney Rimmer and Carl Wallace for
their first goals of the season.  Young caught up to a ball on the back line and sent a lofting pass to Rimmer at the edge of the 18-yard box.
The junior defender took a touch and sliced his shot off the outside of his left foot as the ball tailed away from the keeper into the back of the
net.

The final goal came as Young had a one-on-one with the keeper and Collins made a nice play to keep the forward from getting his shot off.  But Young
was able to make a lateral pass to Wallace, who was streaking in from the left wing and put away the ball away for the 8-0 lead.

Despite the loss freshman keeper Coy Collins (Melbourne, FL) made five saves.
