Tech Panthers Fall To #6 Tampa Spartans

MELBOURNE, Fla.-The #6 ranked University of Tampa Spartans (16-2, 6-0) stay undefeated in the Sunshine State Conference defeating the Florida Tech Panthers
(4-13, 0-6) 3-0 in women’s volleyball action tonight at the Clemente Center. The Spartans easily took game one 30-20 as well as game two 30-15 only having
to battle back from a Panther lead in game three overcoming Tech 31-29 in the final set.

Tech was out hit all three sets with Tampa going .358 to the Panthers’ disappointing .044 team attack percentage for the match. The Spartans almost doubled
Florida Tech in points tallying 69.0 where as the player’s in crimson and gray were only able to amass 36.0 for the match.

Junior outside hitter Tarah Marinelli (Hudson, Florida) led the Spartans with an amazing .769 hitting percentage. Marinelli started and played in all three
sets notching ten kills and four digs. Two Spartan’s chipped in eleven kills apiece including senior middle blocker Kayla Mora (Tampa, Florida) and junior
outside hitter Stephanie Rivera (Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico). Mora chipped in two block assists.

Defensively, sophomore Libero Margeaux Sinibaldi (Venice, Florida) shagged the game high with 11 digs. Coming off the bench, sophomore middle blocker Erin
Clark (Tampa, FL) also had a great night adding eight kills, two block solos and a .429 attack percentage.

Tech’s seniors each proved to be the only effective members of the Panthers for the evening. Middle hitter Kelly Currin (Waynesville, Ohio) hit .368 for
the match. Currin tallied 10 kills and grabbed the game high three block assists. Setter Natasha Bender (Columbus, Nebraska) put up the game high assists
with 16 for the three sets and added six digs. Outside hitter, Jenny Hart (Clermont, Florida) swung for eight kills, two service aces and six digs.

Coming off the bench for the Panthers, sophomore middle hitter Lindsay Foster (Titusville, Florida) hit for .500 and put up two key block assists in the
final set for the Panthers.

Tech will be back in action tomorrow traveling to Fort Meyers to play NCAA II south region opponent Florida Gulf Coast at 4:00 p.m. Tampa will face Eckerd
on Friday, October 7th in St. Petersburg for a 7:00 p.m. SSC match.
