FICPA scholarships

Two College of Business students have been awarded scholarships by the Florida Institute of CPAs Educational Foundation, Inc. (FICPA) Accounting majors
Chiou-Heng Pang and Nikolas A. Avellanedo were each given a check in the amount of $2,000.00 at the September meeting of the FICPA Brevard County chapter.
The scholarships were based on merit and scholarship. The recipients were recommended by a faculty committee. Ms. Pang has a 4.0 grade point average, is a
wife and mother, a volunteer in the Brevard County school system and a part-time teacher in the Melbourne Chinese School. She plans to seek admission into
the MBA program and to sit for the CPA exam. Mr. Avellanedo has a 3.5 grade point average in accounting and 3.1 overall GPA. He plans to sit for the CIA
exam. He has worked almost fulltime while attending school full time. Barbara Pierce, Ph.D., C.P.A., associate dean of the College of Business and
associate professor of accounting, is president of the FICPA Brevard County chapter.
