Tech Tennis Splits against Lehigh

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Tech Tennis teams split against the Lehigh University of Pennsylvania in Satellite Beach Florida with the Men’s Tennis team
defeating Lehigh 5-4 and the Women’s Tennis Team losing 5-4.

In men’s double, the dual of Clifford Giel (Savaneta, Aruba) and Keith Kessler (Brooklyn, New York) defeated their opponent of Brent Herbert and Andrew
Balshi 8-2 for the lone win in men’s double action for Florida Tech.

In Men’s singles four out of the six matches was won by four Panther players. Giel defeated Alfredo Fernandez-Concha losing only two sets 6-2, 6-0. Kessler
grabbed the second win defeating Andrew Balshi 7-5, 6-0 for win number two. The third and forth win in singles came from Jonathan Hanna (Nassau, Bahamas)
winning after three sets, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 and Christian Smith (Arouca, Trinidad) winning 7-5, 6-3.

On the women’s side in doubles play, Michaela Horvathova (Bratislava, Slovakia) and Natalia Ramos (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and Nicole David (Fort Pierce,
Fla.) and Andrea Madrigal (San Jose, Costa Rica) defeated their opponents; Horvathova/Ramos 8-3 and David/Madrigal 9-7 winning two out of the three double
matches.

Florida Tech women’s single play had only two winning matches in the six individual matches played. Andrea Madrigal defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-0 with the
second win came from Natalia Ramos as she defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-3.

The men now improve to 6-5 overall while the women fall to 2-5 overall on the year. The men and women both see action on Thursday, March 8th with the men
playing against Duquesne University while the women will play against Saginaw Valley State.
