Tech Volleyball Swept by 10th Ranked Eagles

MELBOURNE, Fla. (volleyball) – Tech went up against the 10th ranked Eagles of Florida Gulf Coast and lost in straight games this evening in the Clemente
Center; the games scores were 30-17, 30-20, and 30-19.

Early in game one the Eagles jumped out early leading by three points; 6-3. Only then did the Eagles go on a run to increase their lead to eight and
eventually took the game 30-17.

Game two looked like a repeat of the first with the Panthers struggling against the Eagles attack. The Eagles were up by 10 points 22-12 and were looking
to put the Panthers away; the Panthers dug in and fought back ending game two with a final score of 30-20.

With some fight still left in them, the Panthers came out in game three firing away at the Eagles. Cutting into the small lead held by the Eagles, the
Panthers rallied past points seven and eight to take the lead at nine. Tech rallied and led by six points but it wasn’t enough to hold off the Eagles as
they fought all the way back to take game three and the match 30-19.

At attack on the evening the Panthers were led by senior middle hitter Jenny McCoy (Titusville, Fla.) with nine kills hitting .533 on the night. Junior
middle blocker Leigh Ann Brown (Winter Park, Fla.) came behind McCoy with seven kills while senior outside hitter Megan Konopnicki (Plano, TX) tallied six
kills.

Defensively, Melissa Reinders (Orlando, Fla.) had the match high with 20 digs on the night. Konopnicki recorded seven digs while Katie Dobek (Sterling, MI)
and Brenna Lane (Dade City, Fla.) dug five apiece.

(Madison, WI) came out due to injury.
