Tech Women Tie Again Against Bethel College 2-2

MELBOURNE, Fla.-(women’s soccer) — Tech dishes up another tie for the week coming away from the bout against Bethel College with a 2-2 final score. The game
had a rocky start because of weather and a two hour lightning delay was an extremely fast paced, well battled match that resulted in a knotted finish for
the Panthers. Due to daylight and having to squeeze in a doubleheader with the men’s team, both teams agreed upon no overtime action.

The Panthers struck first about six minutes into the game when junior Ericka Hildreth (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) headed the first goal of the game. Senior
teammate Danielle Emhoff (Canton, Conn.) recorded the assist on the cross to Hildreth.

The Wildcats of Bethel College answered back at the 21st minute when sophomore defender Florence Iweta (Delta, Nigeria) found the back of the net after a
deep cross from the 35th yard from senior defender Miranda Tabaka (Niagara Falls, Ontario). Eight minutes later, the wildcats struck again to take the lead
2-1 from the Panthers. Junior forward Leah O’Grady sliced their final goal after a free kick that deflected off Tech’s wall of defenders.

Florida Tech’s starting goal keeper Erica Wales (Huntsville, Ala.) was taken off guard during free kick. Wales finished with three saves and two goals
against. Freshman keeper Melissa Pyles (Port Orange, Fla.) split the time with Wales recording four saves for the match. Freshman defender Rachel Devlin
(Titusville, Fla.) stepped up in the first half after blocking a shot on goal by the Wildcats.

Tech’s leading scorer and freshman Teresa Brantley (Satellite Beach, Fla.) knotted up the score after blasting the ball past the Wildcats’ keeper from a
short pass in the box by senior midfielder Tara Euginedes (Dade City, Fla.).

Both teams were unable to score in the second half coming back from the shortened half-time. The final score remained 2-2 with Bethel out shooting the
Panthers 17 to 7 for the match.

The Florida Tech (2-1-2) women’s team will be back in action on Wednesday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m. traveling to St. Augustine to play Flagler College.
