Ten BCC Students Named Florida Tech Presidential Scholars
The committee for the Florida Tech-Brevard Community College Presidential Scholars recently met to choose recipients for the 2006-2007 academic year. The
committee chose 10 area students. They are Jacob Allenbaugh, Ryan Ballard, Erika Freese, Michael Osborn, Tyler Robbins, Susie Switzer and Dale Yeager of
Melbourne (born in Spokane, Wash.); Rachel Horvath of Merritt Island; John Santiago of Cape Canaveral; and Tanja Cebic of Banja Luka, Bosnia and
Herzegovina.
The scholarships vary in dollar amount, depending on recipient qualifications and need. The recipient is guaranteed a combination of grants and
scholarships equal to Florida Tech tuition.
“We are happy that these very bright students are choosing Florida Tech,” said Florida Tech President Anthony J. Catanese. “We are glad, too, that we can
provide financial support, removing that concern and distraction from their academic experience.”
The committee reviews all admitted students with prior college credit from BCC. Committee members are Joan Buchanan, BCC dean of financial aid and
scholarships; Judith Marino, Florida Tech director of admission; and Jay Lally, Florida Tech director of financial aid and scholarships. Priority goes to
those students who complete their associate degree requirements this academic year.
