Tennis Finishes ITA Regional Tourney

LAKELAND, Fla. (Tennis) – Tennis finished a strong performance at the ITA Regional
Tournament on Sunday. After stockpiling some wins, the remaining competitors still had a few matches to play.   One of the more successful showings
for Florida Tech was the team of senior Michaela Horvathova and sophomore Natalia Ramos. After two wins for the team in
the tournament, they went on to play the #1 seed Korotkevich and Talalenko of Nova Southeastern. Horvathova and Ramos weren’t able to gain ground and lost
the match 8-0. Korotkevich and Talalenko would go on to lose in the final.   In the women’s singles consolation bracket, sophomore Andrea
Madrigal
continued her roll. She beat Cappadona, 6-2, 6-3. After her two wins, she lost to Conroy of Florida Southern, 6-2, 6-1. Conroy went on to
lose in the final of the consolation bracket.   Freshman Stuart Perkins put up quite a fight in the men’s singles consolation
bracket. After gaining two wins, Perkins lost to Coulis of Flagler College in one of the closest matches of the tournament. After going down 6-1 in the
first set, Perkins battled back to force a third tie-breaking set after winning the second set 7-5. He couldn’t keep it going as he lost in the first set,
6-1, 5-7, (1).   Tennis will see it’s next action in an alumni match at 9 a.m. on October 20 in Melbourne, Fla.
