Tennis Heads to ITA Regional

MELBOURNE, Fla. (Tennis) – Both men’s and women’s tennis head to Lakeland, Fla. on
Thursday to compete in the ITA Regional at Florida Southern University. The tournament will start Thursday and go through Sunday.   The Panthers will
carry seeded players to the tournament. Sophomore Natalia Ramos is a ninth seed in the women’s singles and will start the weekend against
Deon Miller of FlaglerCollege. Senior Michaela Horvathova teams with Ramos to form the fifth seed team in women’s doubles. They will face
Carns and McCarty of Florida Southern.   Florida Tech also has the chance for some upsets as they start the weekend against players seeded at the top
of the tournament. Junior Nicole David will face fourth seed Alexa Korotkevich of Nova Southeastern, and sophomore Andrea
Madrigal
will face ninth seed Edita Kulichova also of Nova Southeastern. On the men’s side senior David Fowler will take on ninth
seed Jonathan Gomez of RollinsCollege.   In other singles action sophomore Artie Yentumi will face Albin Hubscher of RollinsCollege,
freshman Stuart Perkins will face J.J. Baylock of Florida Southern, and sophomore John Hanna will take on Andy Jackson
also of RollinsCollege. On the women’s side Horvathova will begin the weekend against Erin Conroy of Florida Southern.   On the doubles side, the men
will face two teams from SaintLeoUniversity. Hanna and Perkins will take on Del Priore and Mike while Fowler and Yentumi face Stacy and Watson. David and
Madrigal will round out Florida Tech’s team with a match against Marada and Miller of Flagler College in women’s doubles.   “The draws were good to
us,” head coach Bill Macom said. “We have a few favorable match-ups
and should be able to go a few rounds in this tournament.”
