Tritons Too Tough for Panthers

MELBOURNE, Fla. (Men’s Soccer) – The Florida Tech Panthers lost to the Eckerd College
Tritons on Saturday by a score of 3-1. That knocks their record to 2-8-2 and 1-4-1 in the Sunshine State Conference.   Florida Tech equaled Eckerd’s
shots with 17 each for the match, and the Panthers held the edge in corner kicks 5-4. Junior goalkeeper Cory Collins faced nine shots on goal
and made six saves.   The Tritons went up 2-0 early with two goals from Luke Sheekey. The Panthers responded when freshman forward Carl Sullivan scored an unassisted goal
at the 37:21 mark. He tipped the ball over the Eckerd goalkeeper, recovered and kicked it in the bottom right side of the net.   The Panthers came out
of the half with energy and forced a number of opportunities but couldn’t convert. Early in the 68th minute, Eckerd’s Joe Illet put the match out of reach
when he deflected a shot by Luke Sheekey.   Florida Tech will see its next action against BarryUniversity at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
