Florida Tech Tech Finishes Second In 2006 Panther Invitational

PALM BAY, Fla.- The Florida Tech Panthers placed second overall 22 strokes above the 2006 Panther Invitational winners Brevard Community College who
finished with a three round score 295-286-293=874 to grab first place at the Majors Golf and Country Club in Palm Bay, Florida.

Tech tallied a final score of 295-287-314 for second place tallying 896 for the tournament. Fellow Sunshine State Conference opponent Eckerd College cam in
third place only three strokes greater that Tech at 899.

Teams participating in this year’s invitational included Flagler College placing fourth with 905, Belmont Abbey College taking fifth with 916, Johnson
& Wales (Florida) was next scoring 927 for the three rounds, West Georgia placed 7th tallying 933 while Saint Leo University was close behind at 8th
with 933. University of Tampa notched 9th place scoring 934 only one stroke behind Saint Leo. Savannah College of Art and Design rounded out the top ten
with a two day finish of 937.

Florida’s Southeastern University was the final institution to receive a team score concluding their final day at 953. Webber International, Warner
Southern and an international team representing France did not receive team standings along with Tech, BCC and Tampa’s B teams.

The medalist for the 2006 Panther Invitational was David Johnson (Melbourne, Florida) from Brevard CC who shot a 70 & 69 on the first day and finished
up today with a 74 going three under for the event. Teammate Mads Nielson also from Melbourne grabbed the silver with 75-71-72 for 218. Florida Tech’s own
junior Justin Regier (East Amherst, New York) who shot 70-73-76 tied for third with Eckerd’s Joe Meglen (72-69-78) both with 219.

Finishing off the top five and all tournament team was Panthers own Jonas DeWitte (Melbourne, FL) 70-73-77 for 220 only one stroke behind 3rd place
finishers. All top five golfers were awarded trophies as part of the 2006 Panther Invitational all tournament team.

Tech had two other student-athletes finish in the top 20 including Joowon Ko (Wesley Chapel, Florida) at 16th with a score of 227. Individual competitor
Jeff Wittup (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) scored lower than two of the five “black team” members finishing tied for 7th with a combined score of 223.

Fellow individual Panther golfer Brandon Miller (Stuart, Florida) pulled a 25th place finish with 231. Rounding off the team was Dan Moline (Duluth,
Minnesota) tied for 34th while Thad Clancy placed 29th with a three round score of 236. The final Panther to finish the tournament was David D’Agostino
(Melbourne, Florida) was 54th out of 82 players registered. Three of Tech’s members were some of the causalities of the sickness that spread like
gangbusters on the final day of the tournament with 14 players unable to finish the three rounds.
