Two at Florida Tech Earn Society of Physics Students Scholarships

– Two Florida Tech juniors have earned $2,000 scholarships from the Society of Physics Students (SPS). The scholarships are funded by the Sigma Pi Sigma
Trust Fund and the American Institute of Physics.

Jennifer Kissinger, a space sciences major from Reading, Pa., earned a 2005-2006 SPS Leadership Award. The award is based on scholarship, potential and
activity in SPS. Kissinger was also named Florida Tech’s Outstanding Junior 2006 and was a recipient of a Distinguished Student Scholar Award at the
university’s recent Honors Convocation.

Christine Gabrielse, a space sciences major from Sheboygan, Wis., earned a Herbert Levy Memorial Scholarship. The award is based on scholarship, SPS
participation and financial need. Gabrielse was named an Outstanding Student in the university’s Department of Physics and Space Sciences two years in a
row, sophomore and junior years. She is a 2003 graduate of Sheboygan County Christian High School.

The Society of Physics Students, based in College Park, Md., is an organization of the American Institute of Physics.
