University Names Englehart Head Football Coach

Florida Institute of Technology President Anthony J. Catanese announced Wednesday that Steve R. Englehart II, former head football coach at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind., has been selected as the first head football coach for the Panthers.

“Coach Englehart’s experience, approach to coaching and commitment to ensuring student success on and off the field make for a winning combination,” Catanese said. “We welcome him to Florida Tech.”

Englehart, who played quarterback at Indiana State University from 1996-99, went on to serve Rose-Hulman as assistant coach for quarterbacks and offensive coordinator before being named head coach in 2006. His all-time record there was 26-14, where he had the highest winning percentage in school history (.650). Since 2010, Englehart has served as offensive coordinator at Indiana State University in Terre Haute.

Florida Tech will host a press conference to introduce Englehart at 10 a.m. Friday, June 17. At that time, he will answer questions and discuss his plans for Panther Football. To confirm attendance, members of the media should call (321) 674-6218 or e-mail wsumner@fit.edu.
