University Site Director Appointed to Logistics Society Post

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Dr. Catherine Elder, the director of Florida Institute of Technology’s University College Extended Studies Division Hampton Roads site in
Fort Eustis, Va., was named vice president of communications for SOLE — the International Society of Logistics.
“Catherine Elder is the consummate educational professional. She is an asset to University College and the entire Florida Tech community. We admire her
tireless energy and dedication to academia,” said Dr. Clifford Bragdon, dean, University College.
Founded in 1966, SOLE is a non-profit international professional society devoted to scientific, educational and literary endeavors to enhance the art and
science of logistics technology, education and management. Membership is open to individuals and companies working, studying or interested in the career
fields of logistics technology, management, engineering, education, product support and physical distribution.
Additionally, Elder was appointed to the Learning Technology Advisory Committee of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. As a committee
member, she will assist the council with technology-enriched teaching and learning initiatives. The appointment was announced by Daniel J. LaVista, the
council’s executive director.
Florida Tech offers graduate degrees through 10 Extended Studies sites, including the Hampton Roads site, with an office in Fort Eustis, Va.; the Fort Lee,
Va. Site; and the National Capital Region site in Alexandria, Va. Florida Tech also has a Virtual Campus for distance learning.
