Panthers Offensive Outburst Not Enough against Pirates

SAVANNAH, Ga. (baseball) – Panthers offensive outburst of 11 runs wasn’t enough against the #28 Armstrong Atlantic State Pirates as Tech fell 15-11 in
theoffensive outing at the Pirate Field. The Panthers and the Pirates combined for 33 hits and 26 runs on the afternoon.

Tech’s Sam Palace (Clarkston, Mich.) set the tone early with a three run homerun in the first inning as the Panthers scored four runs in the top of the
first. Armstrong Atlantic responded back scoring six runs in the bottom of first as the slugfest went on.

The Pirates went to take a 7-4 lead in the bottom of the second but the Panthers answered back in the fourth inning scoring four runs off of four singles
and a double by Steve Condotta (MIssissauga, Ontario) as the Panthers retook the lead at 8-7. Tech would score two more run in the top of the fifth inning
taking a 10-7 lead. After being shutout in the sixth inning, the Pirates stepped to the plate scoring three runs off a three-run home run from the Pirates’
Josh Wilson tying the game at 10-all in the bottom of the sixth. Tech scoring a run in the seventh, the Pirates Truman Marek’s hit a solo homerun to tie
the game after seven. Heading into the eight inning, the Panthers were shutout as the Pirates pushed the last four runs of the game off of two hits. Tech
couldn’t answer back at their last at bat as they fell 15-11 to Armstrong Atlantic.

The Panthers Nick Brennan (Detroit, Mich.) and JD Davidson (Naples, Fla.) added three hits apiece while Pre-Season All-American Steve Condotta, Brandon
Veronee (Chester, Va.), and Kevin Villa (Miami, Fla.) combined for six hits in the game. Palace who hit a homerun in his first game in a Panthers uniform
hit his second as he had three RBI’s on the afternoon. The Panthers combined for 14 hits and 9 RBI’s on the night. Justin Arsenault (Camillus, N.Y.)
received the loss against the Pirates.

Tech staying up in Savannah, GA for the weekend will face Wingate University in a double header on Saturday, February 10th with the first game starting off
at 10 am.
