Panthers Battle #5 Moccasins to a 3-0 Loss

MELBOURNE, Fla. (volleyball)– The Panthers fell to nationally ranked Florida Southern Moccasins in the Sunshine State Conference match 3-0 at the Clemente
Center. The game scores were 30-17, 30-19, and 30-24.

The first two games showed the Mocs dominating the match while the Panthers could not find any rhythm to counteract Florida Southern losing 30-17 and
30-19.

The third game started much like the first two games but the Panthers dug in and rallied from 12 points down to come within two points 22-20. Despite the
late rally by the Panthers, Southern regained their composure and took the third set 30-24.

Leading the way for Tech was senior middle hitter Jenny McCoy (Titusville, Fla.) with 12 kills hitting .348 for the match. Both outside hitters’ freshman
Frankie Brown (Panama City, Fla.) and senior Megan Konopnicki (Plano, Texas) combined for nine kills; five and four respectively with Frankie hitting her
career high .556 to set the pace for the Crimson and Gray. Brown also chipped in three service aces.

Junior middle hitters’ Leigh Ann Brown (Winter Park, Fla.) and Lindsay Foster (Titusville, Fla.) had three kills apiece. Setting her teammates was Amanda
Boyce (Madison, WI) with 25 assists. Boyce also added 3 digs defensively for the Panthers.

Defensively, freshman libero Melissa Reinders (Orlando, Fla.) led the team with nine digs while junior right side hitter Jessie Metzger (Oxford, Conn.)
added four and junior defensive specialist Brenna Lane (Dade City, Fla.) chipped in 3 digs of her own.

Tech’s lone block came from junior setter Amanda Boyce (Madison, Wis.) who snuffed the Mocs on her own at the net. Boyce added 25 assists for the night.

The Panthers move to 2-14 overall, 0-4 in the SCC. Next they visit the Lions of Saint Leo on Tuesday, September 26th in St. Leo, Fla.
