US News: Florida Tech a Top National University

9th Consecutive Year in Prestigious Ranking

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Tech is among the best national universities in the country, according to the 2019 ranking from U.S. News & World Report. Florida Tech’s inclusion in the top tier universities in the United States is its 9th consecutive appearance in the influential guide for prospective students and their families.

The National Universities category is the most robust of the 10 categories of schools the magazine ranks, including those institutions that offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and doctoral programs, and emphasize faculty research.

Florida Tech was again the second-highest ranked private National University in Florida, behind only the University of Miami, and was one of just eight Florida schools in the magazine’s top tier.

Florida Tech was also ranked among the top schools in undergraduate engineering programs at universities that offer doctoral degrees in engineering, a listing based on the judgments of engineering school deans and senior faculty at peer institutions.

And Florida Tech was joined by The New School in New York as the top national universities for diversity in 2019, with 32 percent of their 2017-18 undergraduate class comprised of international students. Other schools on the list include Carnegie Mellon, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Princeton University.

“In a global culture, befriending and learning to collaborate with students from other countries can be rewarding personally and professionally,” the magazine noted.

The exclusive U.S. News rankings are available at www.usnews.com/best-colleges.  The annual listings, which group schools based on categories created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, have grown to be the most comprehensive research tool for students and parents considering higher education opportunities.
