Volleyball Blanked by Nova

MELBOURNE, Fla. – (Sept. 26) Florida Tech volleyball fell to 12-5 (0-5 Sunshine State Conference) at the hands of Nova Southeastern Wednesday night three
games to none.

Leading playmakers for the Panthers were Sacha Gumbs with 12 kills and three blocks, Marcela Vasconcelos with 25 assists,
and Amanda Boyce with two aces and 19 digs. Lindsay Foster also added three blocks.

Contributing for the Sharks were Aley Tallman with 11 kills, Valia Petrova with 39 assists and Paola Ruiz with 11 digs. Melinda Gorman also added five
blocks.

Game one started slowly with several ties and lead changes, but the Shark defense held Tech to a low -.028 hitting percentage and took the game 30-22. Game
two found Nova with an early lead and they held on until Tech tied the game at 20 and took the lead to 23. The Sharks fought back and took game two in a
nail-biter 30-28. Game three found the Panthers with the lead in the beginning and held strong through two ties. A Nova time out at 13-17 turned the game
around as the Sharks took the lead 25-24. Tech would only score once more before the match expired at 25-30.

The Crimson and Gray will hit the road this weekend as they face Barry on Friday at 7 p.m. and Lynn on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Panthers will return to the
Clemente Center Saturday, October 6 to battle SSC rival Rollins at 4 p.m.
