Volleyball Comes Up Short

MELBOURNE, Fla. – (Oct. 6) Florida Tech volleyball dropped to 13-8 overall and 1-8 in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) play after losing a close battle one
game to three to conference foe Rollins.

Top playmakers for the Panthers included Sacha Gumbs with 18 kills and six blocks, Aurora Jover with 29 assists, and
Mayne Pegorari with 19 digs.

Leading the way for Rollins were Christina Reinders with 18 kills, Lacey Malarky with 50 assists and Kim Cline with 31 digs. Jenny Sherwood added seven

Game one got off to a slow start for the Panthers as the Tars took an early lead. A slew of errors forced a Tech time out at 7-12. Although the Panthers
made some good plays and fought back Rollins never lost control and won 30-22. Game two found the Panthers in a six point hole, but three quick blocks got
them right back into the game. It was a three point game into the twenties, but Rollins held on to win 30-26. Game three got off to a slow start as the
Panthers were once again down by five to six points. Tech monopolized a weakened Rollins defense and took the lead 15-14. The Panthers maintained control
and kept the match going to win the game 30-22.

Tech got off to a good start in game four leading by four points. A Rollins run tied the game at 14, but the Panthers stayed strong and kept it a two point
game. Tech fought back through multiple ties, but came up short in the end 26-30.

The Panthers will return to the Clemente Center Wednesday, Oct. 10 to face Embry Riddle at 7 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 11 to challenge West Georgia at 6 p.m.
