– Florida Tech’s WFIT 89.5-FM has received a $24,743 Brevard Cultural Alliance (BCA) Community Cultural Grant. The award will be used to assist in
operating expenses and to sponsor concerts in the community.
“Although WFIT has received grants from the BCA for many years, this is the largest amount BCA has ever awarded us,” said Terri Wright, WFIT general
manager. “We think this reflects our growing importance in the community.”
Brevard County provides the grant funding and county commissioners make the final decision on how much funding may be available to BCA for the grants. A
panel of arts and culture experts, noted in the county, judge the grant applications. Final awards are based on points earned by the applicant.
WFIT 89.5-FM is a National Public Radio station, serving the Space Coast and Treasure Coast communities. When the station completed its digital conversion
last September, WFIT became the first station in Brevard and one of the first stations nationwide to broadcast in HD Radio™.
