WFIT Presents Satellite High Jazz Band Concert
– WFIT 89.5FM, a service of Florida Tech, and The Horn Section of Eau Gallie, present the award-winning and nationally recognized Satellite High School
Jazz Band at a free concert in Cocoa’s Riverfront Park on Sunday, Feb. 26, from 3 to 6 p.m.
Satellite High’s jazz band, following an audition, was recently honored with an invitation to attend the National Association for Music Educators National
Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are the only high school jazz band invited to perform at this prestigious convention.
The convention convenes every two years, with an attendance of 70,000 music educators from across the nation. The educators discuss the positive effects of
music on students, new products and services for music; and national standard assessment measures.
At the free Feb. 26 concert in Riverfront Park, the band will accept donations to help defray costs for the trip to Utah.
Join WFIT disc jockey and jazz aficionado, emcee Jack Simpson, for an afternoon of jazz performed by very talented youngsters. Help pave the way for them
to perform at the National Association for Music Educators in Salt Lake City, Utah, April 19-23, 2006.
Further information can be obtained by calling Music Director Mark Nelson at (321) 779-2000 or Sandi Hall, WFIT 89.5FM, (321)674-8140.
