Campus housing has many options

Pictured: My new home at Harris!

It’s that time of year when students start to think about where they would like to live next year. Most juniors and seniors choose to live off-campus as their contract to live on-campus for two years has expired. I am a freshman and will spend one more year on campus. I am sad to say that I will be leaving Roberts hall at the end of this semester, yet at the same time hoping to get a spot in Harris Village.

Columbia Village would also be a good choice for my next year here. However, I feel that it is a bit far from the majority of my classes and the dining hall. Southgate is also an excellent choice available here at FIT. However, considering that it is not located directly on campus I felt that I should go for Harris even though it is a bit more expensive.

I think that switching halls will be a good experience and I recommend trying it. You will meet new people who are more than likely going to become your friends within a week. If you wish, you can always room with your current roommates or any other friends you may have. I will be rooming with a couple of guys from my floor in Roberts. Living at Harris, I will be able to cook my own food, which I have wanted to do for a long time. I really miss the taste of Thai food!

I hope you consider your housing selection as an opportunity to meet new people and are as excited about it as I am!
