High School Students Invited to Florida Techs July 20-24 Engineering Camp

MELBOURNE, FLA. — High School students will learn about real-world engineering problems this summer at Florida Institute of Technology’s Engineering Camp
2009. In the week-long camp, which runs July 20-24, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., students will conduct experiments, witness lab demonstrations and meet engineers
who will discuss their work. The camp is designed as a fun introduction to an engineering career for students entering the 10th through 12th grades.

Student experiences will take place at a variety of laboratories on campus. These include the Aerospace Lab, Chemical Lab, Computer-aided Design Lab,
Computer Lab, Dynamic Systems Lab, Hydraulics Lab, Materials Lab, Microelectronics Lab, Robotics Lab and Virtual Instrumentation Lab.

Students will learn the scientific principles behind the experiments they conduct; meet personally with department heads of the Aerospace, Chemical, Civil,
Computer, Ocean, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering departments; hear presentations about engineering programs from highly experienced engineers and
educators; learn data analysis techniques; conduct data analyses on assigned computers (one per student); gain ideas about possible science research
projects and more.

Camp forms and fees must be received by June 23. No refunds will be made after July 6. The cost for day students is $450; $750 for students staying
