Senior Members Giel, Kessler, Nakatsuji and Gay each Picked up Wins in their Final Home Match

MELBOURNE, Fla. (tennis) — The Florida Tech Women improved to 9-11 on the season after defeating NCAA II southeast regional opponent’s Palm Beach Atlantic
(7-14) 7-to-2 on senior day. The Florida Tech Men (8-15) despite a valiant effort fell 6-to-3 to the Sailfish (12-10) at the Fee Avenue Courts. Senior
members honored were four year members Aya Nakatsuji (Chiba, Japan), Cliff Giel (Savaneta, Aruba), Keith Kessler (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Christian Smith
(Arouca, Trinidad); three year member Adam Outlaw (Mobile, Alabama) and first year brother and sister members’ Tania and Eric Gay (Caracas, Venezuela).

In women’s singles action freshman Natalia Ramos (San Juan, Puerto Rico), Andrea Madrigal (San Jose, Costa Rica), Valerie Rapson (Rochester, N.Y.) and
sophomore Nicole David (Ft. Pierce, Fla.) each picked up wins at the #2, #3, #4 and #6 flights.

In doubles action Tech swept the Sailfish with #9 regionally ranked tandem Michaela Horvathova (Bratislava, Slovakia) and Ramos took the first flight 8-6
while David and Madrigal easily won their #2 doubles match 8-1. Seniors Nakatsuji and Gay were the turning factor picking up their first season win
together in the #3 flight defeating the Sailfish 8-4.

Kessler was the only men’s team member to go undefeated on the day combining with fellow senior Giel for a 8-4 doubles win. Kessler took the #2 singles
flight 6-4, 7-5 after a hard battle. Freshman Jonathan Hanna (Nassau, Bahamas) also won his singles match 6-3, 6-3 in the three spot.

Despite a tough loss sophomore Joel Zahlan (Sarasota, Fla./Ghana) went three sets with the tie breaker falling2-6, 7-6 (10-7) after a two hour battle
finishing off match play for the day at 5:30 p.m.
