Panthers crush Puerto Rico Mayaguez and Rio Piedras in Thanksgiving Holiday Action

Melbourne, Fla. – (women’s basketball) Florida Tech came out victorious against both Thanksgiving Holiday games against the University of Puerto Rico
Mayagüez 81-37 and Rio Piedras 83-29. Junior forward Kristin Heminger (Merritt Island, Fla.) led her tram averaging 15.0 points per game with a combined
two game tally of 30 points and 13 rebounds (6.5 RPG).

Senior guard Danielle Vaughn (Tallahassee, Fla.) also shot in the double figures for both contests averaging 11.0 points per game and led all defensively
with 7.0 rebounds per game. Fellow senior Jen Tamilio (Boston, Mass.) tallied 10 assists for both games.

Against Mayagüez, Heminger scored 18 points going 7-for-8 from the field and 3-for-3 from the line. Freshman forward Lindsay Greene (Stallings, N.C.) put
up her collegiate best performance notching 10 points and game high eight rebounds coming off the bench.

Tech’s scoring was spread throughout the roster with all but two players putting numbers up on the scoreboard. The Panthers put up a season high in boards
with 57 for the night. The team rebound record being 71 for the Florida Tech dating back to 1988-’89 season against Flagler College.

Against Rio Piedras, three crimson and gray hoopsters scored in the double figures for the night. Vaughn, making her first starting appearance of the
season, tallied 16 points going 5-for-8 from the field and a flawless 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. She, also, pitched in seven boards, two assists and
one block. Senior Shante Johnson (Orlando, Fla.) put up a game high three blocks and added five points, five rebounds and two steals.

Heminger again with a double figure night chipped in 12 points and game high eight boards. Junior starting forward Kassi Crimi (Jordan, Minn.) had 10
points for the night.

For the first time in over five years, every eligible Panther on the 2005-2006 contributed to the 83 points scored for the Saturday day match-up. Forty of
Tech’s points were bench points.

The Panthers will be back in action hosting NCAA DII south regional opponent Armstrong Atlantic at 5:30 p.m. in the Clemente Center. The game will be
