Nellippallil Recognized with ASME’s Young Engineer Award

Anand Balu Nellippallil, assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering, received the prestigious 2023 Young Engineer Award presented by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ Computers and Information in Engineering (ASME/CIE) Division.

The award, established in 2008, recognizes a promising investigator under age 40 who is making outstanding contributions to the progress in the application of computers in engineering.

Nellippallil’s selection was based on his achievements, testimonials from peers, and the promise of a significant impact on the discipline of computers and information in engineering in the future.

The award was presented by ASME CIE Conference Chair Caterina Rizzi and ASME CIE Program Chair Robert Wendrich at the 2023 ASME International Design Engineering Technical Conferences & Computers and Information in Engineering Conference in Boston this month.

The winner is chosen by a committee appointed by the Computers and Information in Engineering division chair.

Along with his CIE Young Engineer Award, Nellippallil was also recognized with a certificate of appreciation for his service as chair of the Computer-Aided Product and Process Development Technical Committee of ASME. (Picture below.)

Earlier in 2023, Nellippallil was honored with the National Science Foundation’s Engineering Research Initiation Award.
