Panther Tennis Fights Hard Despite 5-4 Loss the #31 Indianapolis in DII Womens Tennis Action

MELBOURNE, Fla. (women’s tennis) Despite taking the #1, #3 and #4 singles matches verse the nationally ranked Greyhounds of the University of Indianapolis
(2-5), Florida Tech could not pull off another individual win to take one point advantage falling 5-4.

Sophomore Nicole David (Fort Pierce, Fla.) proved victorious in both singles and doubles for the day defeating Melanie Sullivan in a tie breaker set 7-6,
0-6 (10-4) for the win at the #4 spot. David and tandem partner freshman Andrea Madrigal (San Jose, Costa Rica) combined for the lone doubles win 8-3.

Junior Mikaela Horvathova (Bratislava, Slovakia) upset #7 Great Lakes Regional ranked Lindsey Fisher in another tough fought battle in three sets coming
back 2-6, 7-5 (10-4). #6 Regionally ranked Ashley Liles and Fischer defeated #8 regionally ranked pair of Horvathova and Natalia Ramos (San Juan, Puerto
Rico).

Ramos picked up the final singles win in the #3 spot with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Laura Phillip. Ramos just recently returning to the line-up after two
surgeries over the holiday break has made a slow but efficient come-back.

The Panthers will be back in action tomorrow hosting New Jersey Tech at 1:00 p.m. in a double header with the men’s team who face Northern Illinois.
