Florida Tech Falls Short in SSC Volleyball Action

SAINT LEO, Fla. (volleyball) Florida Tech unable to catch a break against conference opponents Saint Leo Lions tonight at the Marion Bowman Center losing
3-0 in an hour and a half match. Game scores were 30-25, 20-28 and 3-24.

Despite the three set sweep for the Lions, the Panthers battled throughout the match with both teams knotting up the score 32 times and Tech taking control
on at least half of the fifteen total lead changes during the night. Saint Leo barely out-hit Tech with a team .161 attack percentage to the visiting
Panthers .159 hitting percentage.

Both teams were dead-even with 50 digs a piece while the crimson and gray spikers controlled the net out blocking the Lions 8 to 6 team blocks.

Junior outside hitter Jessie Metzger (Oxford, Conn.) led the Panthers with 10 kills and a .364 attack percentage. Metzger notched her season high hitting
percentage and tied her kills for 2006. Five other Panthers tallied five kills for the conference showdown.

Junior setter Amanda Boyce (Madison, Wis.) notched her ninth double-double on the season with 28 assists and eleven digs. Boyce was also one of the five to
tally five kills for the three sets hitting .455.

Fellow junior middle hitter Lindsay Foster (Titusville, Fla.) also had five kills but led her tam with a .500 attack percentage. Foster led all players
with four blocks for the night.

Defensively, freshman Melissa Reinders (Orlando, Fla.) tallied 14 digs to pace Tech, while junior Katie Dobek (Sterling Heights, Mich.) added 10 digs.

The Panthers fall to 2-15 on the season and 0-5 in the SSC. They will travel to the west coast of the Florida this weekend to face SSC opponents Eckerd
College on Saturday #1 nationally ranked the University of Tampa on Sunday both games starting at 4:00 p.m.
