Rollins Tars Shut Down Puerto Rico Rio Piedras in Final Day of the 2005 Florida Tech Thanksgiving Classic

MELBOURNE, Fla.-The Rollins Tars (6-0) hold on to their unbeaten streak shutting down the University of Puerto Rico- Rio Piedras (0-5) while breaking a
hundred with a final score of 101-45 at the Clemente Center in game three of the 2005 Florida Tech Women’s Basketball Thanksgiving Classic.

This win for Rollins places the game second in the largest margin of victory by 56 points in the eleven year history of the tournament. The largest which
was 90 points in 2000 when Florida Tech defeated Puerto Rico- Mayaguez 108-18. The 101-65 win also places it in the top four in highest points scored.

Five different players scored in the double figures for Rollins. Senior forward Joslyn Giles (Winter Haven, Fla.) led her team both days picking up 16
points today going 6-fo-7 from the field. For her combined 29 point effort Giles was named to the 2005 All Classic Team along with teammate freshman guard
Jessica Barker (Orange City, Fla.).

Barker notched 13 points coming off the bench with a tournament tally of 21 points. Despite being a key reservist Barker led her team under the boards in
both games pulling down eight rebounds with a two day total of 17 rebounds.

Sophomores’ Jennifer Musgrove (Palm Bay, Fla.) and Rachel Workman (North Hampton, Mass.) each added 12 points. Senior guard Sally Johnston (Winter Springs,
Fla.) rounded out the double figure scoring with 11 points. Johnston also pitched in five assists and five steals.

Senior forward Randi Weiss (Kissimmee, Fla.) grabbed a two day total of 22 points and 15 rebounds along with three blocks.

Fellow All-Classic member Karla Ruiz (Arecibo, Puerto Rico) basically did all the scoring for Rio Piedras leading her team with16 points. Ruiz added four
rebounds.

Head Coach Glenn Wilkes, Jr. managed to clear the bench allowing all the Tars’ players to score in the contest spreading around the playing time. Defense
was the name of the game for Rollins out hustling the Jerzanas under the boards pulling down a team 58 to Rio Piedras disappointing 27 rebounds. Every
Rollins player grabbed at least three or more rebounds for the game.

The Tars took advantage of every steal from the Lady Gamecocks scoring 49 of their points from the forced turnovers.

Despite the foul fest that took place in the game both Rollins and Rio Piedras were not very lucky at the line tonight. Rollins only made 31-53 free throws
while Jerzanas went 9-22 for the contest.
