Intermodal Transportation Security Workshop Scheduled

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Security in transportation — on land and sea, in space and in the air — are more critical issues than ever before. To help meet this challenge,
Florida Tech will conduct a hands-on, Intermodal Transportation Systems Security Management Workshop and Conference Oct. 23 and 24.

The workshop offers a series of presentations leading to a real-time scenario combining a natural and man-made disaster. Participants will be shown the
dynamics of an intermodal transportation system, operating under the most distressed circumstances, and will learn how to design a plan for securing a safe
and secure system.

The course is designed for a variety of professionals. They include transportation specialists; freight planners and operators; engineers; architects;
emergency management and health care professionals; civil defense, military, police, fire, safety and security personnel; risk managers; city managers;
public administrators and elected officials involved in government, business or academia. Anyone responsible for protecting against threats that impact
public health and safety could benefit from attending.

A host of experienced speakers from academia, business, government and the military will offer their insights. Topics will include developing technological
tools for global security management, port security and safety, and strategic communications for command and control systems.

Workshop registration fees are $295 for government workers; $495 for industry employees. Dr. Clifford R. Bragdon, dean of Florida Tech’s University
