SunTrust Foundation Donates $10K to Florida Tech’s Bisk College of Business

Gift Will Enhance Technology, Innovation Opportunities for Students

MELBOURNE, FLA. —The SunTrust Foundation has donated $10,000 to Florida Institute of Technology’s Nathan Bisk College of Business, where the gift will be used to boost technology in the classroom and underwrite additional innovation events at the college.

“SunTrust is pleased to provide this $10,000 gift to the Florida Institute of Technology in support of the Nathan Bisk College of Business Student Business Incubator program,” said David Fuller, president of SunTrust Bank’s Central Florida division, speaking on behalf of The SunTrust Foundation. “Business and entrepreneurial education programs such as business incubators provide valuable experience and skills to develop the next generation of leaders, and align with our commitment to improving the financial well-being of individuals and the communities we serve.”

The SunTrust Foundation’s mission is to support nonprofit organizations and institutions engaged in activities promoting education, health and human services, culture and art, and civic and community involvement that contribute to the social and economic development of the communities we serve.

Scott Benjamin, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship & New Business Development at Florida Tech, said the partnership with The SunTrust Foundation will allow the center and Florida Tech to drive innovation and new business development.

“This generous donation will be used to provide innovative technological training tools for our students and support our showcase series of innovation events,” he said.

Annie Becker, dean of the Nathan Bisk College of Business, added, “The SunTrust gift allows our business students to explore their entrepreneurial spirit by creating ideas and innovating solutions during their academic careers at Florida Tech. Community support such as this is key to educating our future entrepreneurial leaders to manage innovation and change in a global environment.”

The gift comes as the university continues its Create the Future Campaign. Launched in January 2013, this is a $100 million initiative with one goal firmly in mind: to secure the financial resources for Florida Institute of Technology to become one of the ten most respected technological universities in the world.
