Walk-A-Thon For A New Heart: Why I Help

Guest Blogger: Kaylin Jaichon, Nathan M. Bisk College of Business student

With the Walk-A-Thon For A Heart only 4 days away, I wanted to take a moment to share the reason why I have are decided to take part in the walk-a-thon and to help the St. Amour family. Although I have never been in Yiellen’s exact position, I can relate to the pains she feels in regards to her mother Marie. This past December my grandfather unexpectedly pasted away and it was a very difficult ordeal for my family and me to cope with. I had never lost a loved one before my grandfathers passing and since December, I have realized just how precious life is and how easily it can be taken. Watching the sorrow in my grandmother’s eyes is enough to inspire me to help save a life, in whatever way I can.

I don’t think anyone should have to suffer the pain and sorrow of losing a loved one and I want to my part to help in whatever way possible. Although I probably cannot raise anything close to $1,000,000 I am putting my best effort forward to help raise as much funds as possible for this amazing woman, Marie. The fact that she has helped women and children in Haiti for over 30 years is commendable. When I think of someone deserving of a life saving surgery, Marie would be at the top of my list. What’s most exceptional is that even after receiving her fatal diagnosis, Marie continues to think about helping others and is eager to restore her health so that she may get back to her life’s work.

Collectively, we can make a big difference in Marie’s recovery and give her a fighting chance at receiving the heart transplant she desperately needs. Lots of small contributions add to making the BIGGEST impacts.

Please join us this Friday, April 19th for the Walk-A-Thon For A New Heart from 10am-2pm.

  1. The donation of heart is much worthy thing which can save the lives of others. I must appreciate such people and I hope those people who have passed from heart transplantation will completely recover soon.
