MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Tech’s weVENTURE Women’s Business Center (WBC) has been recognized with two honors from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
weVENTURE WBC, a program of the Bisk College of Business, was named the South Florida District and State of Florida Women’s Business Center of the Year. Then in a surprise announcement at the center’s recent Small Business Summit, SBA South Florida Deputy Director Althea Harris announced weVENTURE was also recipient of the 2024 Region IV Women’s Business Center of the Year Excellence Award.
Overall, weVENTURE was one of 10 recipients recognized in this year’s Small Business Week awards. The SBA South Florida district covers 24 counties in southern Florida, including Brevard County, and the regional district includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
This is weVENTURE’s eighth time earning recognition from the SBA for excellence in service.
Established in 2007, weVENTURE WBC strives to be the leading voice and resource for professional women and entrepreneurs on the Space and Treasure coasts. Research by the National Women’s Business Council showed rapid growth in women-owned small businesses since 1997. Today there are more than 14 million women-owned businesses that make up 39% of all U.S. businesses – a nearly 14% increase from 2019 to 2023.
