12th Annual Florida Tech/Harris Ethics and Leadership Conference Set for March 22
MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Florida Institute of Technology Nathan M. Bisk College of Business Center for Ethics and Leadership and Harris Corp. will host the 12th Annual Ethics & Leadership Conference March 22. It will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hilton Rialto in Melbourne. The theme this year is “Ethics in Cyberspace: Is There Character in Technology?”
The conference will feature presentations from industry leaders and the winning team from the 16th Annual High School Business Ethics Competition at Florida Tech. The team will present “Google and Internet Privacy Case Study” at noon.
The industry speakers are Julie Tyson, vice president, Sponsor Relations, PGA Tour; Ken McCabe (Ret.), commissioner on the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), Federal Bureau of Investigation; and Dale Meyerrose, vice president and strategic adviser, Harris Integrated Network Solutions.
Tyson will discuss, “Golf Ethics for Character Development,” from 8:45-9:30 a.m. She started in the LPGA Tour in 1999 and has worked on the PGA Tour since 2007. She manages relationships with companies that represent more than $130 million in sponsorships, including AT&T, Shell and Deutsche Bank.
The next talk, “Technology for Business Intelligence,” from 9:30-10:15 a.m., will be by McCabe. A retired FBI special agent in charge of Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia, McCabe was first appointed by the PGCB in 2004 to sit as an initial member of the Board and was reappointed for two additional two-year terms. His more than 20 years with the FBI led him to adopt regulations to ensure the integrity of gaming. McCabe also has over 30 years’ experience in crisis management, strategic planning and tactical leadership.
Meyerrose, a retired major general in the U.S. Air Force and a decorated Southwest Asia veteran, directs a wide range of Harris cyber and information technology business and thought leadership activities. These include international pursuits, media relations and public appearances. He will discuss, “Ethically Managing Technology,” from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
