Womens Business Center Offers Free Career/Image Workshop Feb. 2

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Women who want information on how to move forward in their lives and careers are invited to the New Year, New You workshop on Feb. 2. Sponsored by the Women’s Business Center (WBC) at Florida Institute of Technology, the free workshop will be in the Denius Student Center’s Hartley Room on campus from 3 to 6:30 p.m. The sponsors are also asking participants to wear red in honor of the American Heart Association and National Wear Red Day.

The workshop begins with three presentations that will discuss networking, improving an image, and building a résumé and boosting interviewing skills. The first presentation, Secrets to Marketing Yourself, will be by Judy Gillespie, founder of Career Avenues by Judy in Melbourne. She will be followed by Julie Braga of Melbourne Residence Inn & Courtyard Marriott with Networking Essentials. Edna Patten of Impacting Presence will give the last presentation, Professional Image.

The presentations will be followed by a fashion show on proper professional and business casual attire for women ages 20 to 50. The wardrobe in the fashion show is provided by Dillard’s at Melbourne Square Mall and styling is provided by Rumors Hair Salon in Melbourne.

After the fashion show participants will have the opportunity to make connections in the business community by networking with Human Resources representatives and others. Refreshments will be provided, vendors will be on hand and door prizes will be awarded.

Cheryl Clermont Photography will also provide participants with a mini-photoshoot for profile pictures before the event, from 2 to 3 p.m. She will offer a low-resolution photo for $25.
