Womens Business Center Offers Secrets to Marketing Yourself and Keys to Career Happiness

MELBOURNE, FLA—Florida Institute of Technology’s Women’s Business Center (WBC) presents the classes “Secrets to Marketing Yourself” on Dec. 15 and “Keys to Career Happiness” on Dec. 8. Each two-hour class will be held in the university’s Link Building, Room 323, from 6-8 p.m. and will offer a drawing for a free career coaching session.

The “Secrets to Marketing Yourself” covers how to conduct an effective job search and offers tips for how to stand out from the crowd. Topics include career exploration, effective communications, networking and interviewing. A free résumé critique will be available.

The “Keys to Career Happiness” will provide students with the tools they need to discover their career passion and how to successfully employ this newly acquired self-knowledge in today’s job market. Students will take the highly-rated “Self-Directed Search Assessment (SDS)” by American psychologist John L. Holland. Upon completion of the SDS review, the class will learn how to establish and interpret individual “summary codes” and how to research occupations.

Both courses will be taught by Judy Gillespie, founder of Career Avenues by Judy. Gillespie, recipient of several writing and coaching awards and recognitions, is a Cover Letters for Dummies contributing author. She recently appeared on “Good Morning America” and is a member of Florida Today’s 2009 Citizens Advisory Panel, guest columnist and Opinion Matters Blogger.
