Top U.S. Government Accountability Officer Added to Speaker Roster at May 18 Florida Tech Conference

MELBOURNE, FLA. — The Florida Institute of Technology Activity Based Total Accountability (ABTA) Institute will present the 2009 National Conference on
Innovations in Government Accountability and Performance on May 18. The conference will take place at the Hilton Melbourne Beach Oceanfront Hotel, from 8
a.m. to 5 p.m.

Newly added to the roster of speakers is Cheryl Whitaker, deputy chief administrative officer for the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). She
oversees agency workforce planning, staffing, strategic planning and agency communications and has served the GAO for more than 30 years.

The keynote speaker is the top U. S. official on government accountability, The Honorable Earl Devaney. Appointed by Vice President Biden, Devaney is chair
of the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board.

The conference is of interest to professionals and researchers in local, state and federal government, industry, nonprofit organizations and academia. A
fee of $40 covers all sessions and panel discussions, a continental breakfast, lunch and refreshments.

The ABTA Institute, under a $752,000 grant from the Florida Department of Education, is creating a system for government oversight. The institute is
collecting and analyzing data to produce consistent reports on how each of the 50 states spends valuable tax dollars in a variety of areas.
