Community Psychological Services Presents Free Seminar on Blended Family Challenges Oct. 29

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Community Psychological Services (CPS) of Florida Institute of Technology will present “Remarried with Children: Understanding and Managing the Unique Challenges of Blended Families” Oct. 29, 6-8 p.m. The seminar is free and open to the public. Children aged 12-17 are also welcome.

Florida Tech psychology graduate students Jennifer Kennedy, Nicole Kline and Cory Safra will discuss blended families, including current relevant statistics and the specific difficulties faced by members of blended families as they navigate a complex family system. They will allow time for a Q&A session. The presentation will be in The Scott Center for Autism Treatment second floor seminar room.

Blended families are generated by divorce, the death of a parent or when unmarried couples cohabitate. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2004, 10 percent of children under age 18 lived with one biological parent and one stepparent.
