Library Tip Tuesday: Asking for Help

Every other Tuesday, the Library brings you helpful tips for using your library resources more effectively.

Picture the scene:

You’re working on your term paper, furiously typing and citing away in a quiet corner of Olin Engineering, when suddenly you realize that you need help. You need one more reference for your paper, but you can’t find anything that supports your topic. Overcome with despair, you let out an anguished cry: “Isn’t there someone who can help me with this research paper?!”

There is someone who can help you with your research paper: your librarian!

You probably know that you can call the library for research help any time it’s open (you can also chat or text us, if you’re shy), but what about those times when no one is around? Or those times when you want to sit down and really discuss your needs?

You can submit a request for research help by going to our Ask a Librarian page, and selecting “Email/Request Appointment.

The Ask a Librarian link is on the left side of the screen.

Find the email/appointment link in the middle of the page.

Once you submit your request, a librarian will get back to you within two business days. You can set up an appointment with your major’s library liaison, and discuss your individual research needs in-person, over the phone, or via email.

So, fear not my young scholar – help is available. You just have to ask for it.
