Dr. Steven Atkin ‘94, ’01, What’s in the Cloud?
There is a lot in the cloud—just ask Dr. Steven Atkin, chief technology officer and distinguished engineer at IBM. Steven has been working on globalization issues at IBM for over twenty years. He serves to address the challenges developers encounter in their work transitioning to the cloud. In his current role, he is focused on the overall client experience and enabling clients to obtain the skills needed to fully utilize IBM cloud-based products.
Since completing his master of science degree at Florida Tech in 1994, Steven has held roles with increasing responsibility at IBM. From 1999 to 2001, Steven was a special studies scholar at IBM, receiving a resident graduate student award that allowed for fully funded research in computer science. He earned an honorable mention for his PhD dissertation from the Localization Research Center at the University of Dublin. He also was awarded first place from the Sigma Xi scientific research society and was elected to the UPE computer science honor society as a research scholar.
