Center for Organizational Effectiveness to Conduct Presentations Workshop May 17

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Institute of Technology Psychology Professor and executive presentations coach Richard Griffith will present “Structure Your Message, Connect with Your Audience” May 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Scott Center for Autism Treatment, Room 220, on campus. The one-hour workshop will discuss how to reduce ambiguity in presentations, establish executive presence through authenticity and maximize the retention of information through the use of visuals.

“Most presentations fail because they aren’t thought through” said Griffith, author of the upcoming book Presenting Across Borders. “Many presenters just slap slides together without first crafting a coherent message. To make things worse, presenters often dive into data without telling the audience what the data means to them, and read slides rather than have a genuine discussion with the audience.”

The program, which is sponsored by the South Brevard Society for Human Resource Management, will begin with social networking at 6 p.m.; the presentation starts at 6:45.

The presentation, open to the business community, costs $50. To attend, register at www.sbshrm.org/?PageId=66&EventId=240.

Griffith is a senior consultant with Florida Tech’s Center for Organizational Effectiveness, a campus-based consulting firm specializing in human resource management consulting. His work has been featured in Time magazine and The Wall Street Journal.
