Baseball Continues Home Field Success against Bentley College

MELBOURNE, Fla. (baseball) – The Florida Tech Panthers baseball team moves to 5-0 at home on the Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field as Tech went on to defeat the
Falcons of Bentley College (MA) 16-5 in a non-conference game this afternoon.

Tech started the outburst of runs in the second inning off a towering solo homerun by Eric Trillas (Hialeah, Fla.) over the right field wall. Two batters
later, the ball left the ball park again off a two run homerun by Will Lanier (Jacksonville, Fla.) as the Panthers took a 3-0 lead in the second inning.

The Panthers would go to score four more runs in the third and fourth innings to take a 7-3 lead as the fifth inning came around. The Falcons would put
three runs up on the board in the third inning off the bat of the first basemen Tom Haugh (Andover, Mass.); Haugh drove in all five of the Falcons runs
going 3 for 5 on the afternoon. Bentley would put their last two runs up in the fifth and seventh innings.

In the fifth, the Panthers went three up and three down for the Falcons quickest inning of the game. From the fifth on, the Panthers scored in three’s as
they scored three in the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings as the put up 16 runs on the Bentley pitchers. In the three innings of scoring nine runs, Sam Palace
(Clarkston, Mich.) hit his third homerun clearing the bases of two Panther base runners. Three doubles in the seventh all by different Tech batters drove
three more runs; Danny Sutton (Land O’Lakes, Fla.), Eamonn Powers (Staten Island, N.Y.), and Lanier each had the doubles in the inning. Tech’s final three
runs came in the eight off five hits and a fielder’s choice that kept the inning alive. Tech combined for 17 hits on the afternoon driving in 16 runs and
had three homeruns in the game that drove in six runs.

On the mound for the Panthers was Erik Bua (Port Richey, Fla.) who pitched seven innings as he earned his first win of the year; 1-0. Bua struck out four
Falcon batters as he got Bentley to ground out 11 times and fly out a total of 4 times.

At the plate, the Panthers shortstop Steve Condotta (Mississauga, Ontario) and outfielder Will Lanier each went 3 for 5, combining for 4 RBI as each of
them scored three runs apiece. Lanier hit his second homerun on the year as Trillas hit his first as Palace hit his third on the season. Brendan Twomey
(Boca Raton, Fla.) scored twice, drove in two RBI, and had two hits; one for a double and one base hit.

The Panthers move to 8-3 overall and start a three game series with Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, February 24th with the first game of the double header
starting at high noon.
