Youth Summer Entrepreneurial Camp Set June 21-24

MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Women’s Business Center (WBC) at Florida Institute of Technology will host a summer entrepreneurial camp in collaboration with Junior Achievement of the Space Coast. The camp, from June 21 to 24, will meet 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Link Building, Room 323, on campus. The camp is open to high school students ages 13-18; the deadline to register is June 10.

Camp participants will learn concepts and skills in business planning, advertising, ethics, financing, marketing, graphic presentation and management in an engaging, fun, safe and interactive environment.
“During this week-long day camp young entrepreneurs will learn what it takes to be the next Donald Trump of their generation,” said Donn Miller-Kermani, WBC director.

Upon program completion students will be able to recognize, evaluate and implement the strategies of a successful entrepreneur; explore sales strategies based on a well-thought-out business plan; demonstrate innovative business planning skills; and develop a start-up checklist that includes budgeting and financial forecasts.

Entrepreneur Hugh Brown, Junior Achievement of the Space Coast Business Hall of Fame Laureate, will be the guest speaker June 24. Brown is the founder and former president and CEO of BAMSI, Inc., a full-service engineering and technical services company. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of SunTrust Bank of Orlando, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, the Florida Council of 100 and the Florida Council on Economic Education.

The camp fee of $250 per student includes snacks and lunch. A limited number of scholarships is available. Among the sponsors are Carol Craig of Craig Technologies and Cindy Dropeski, president of Melbourne-based Intercoastal Insurance Inc. “I’m making the investment because I believe in the concept of an entrepreneurial camp and to show my support for Florida Tech’s WBC,” said Dropeski.
