Putting Science into Summer Camp

Budding scientists get a unique opportunity to experience what college academic life is all about during the many Florida Tech hosted summer camps.

This year, Florida Tech’s College of Science will host its first aquaculture and marine biology summer camp at our Vero Beach Marine Laboratory. Campers will study fish biology, aquarium water chemistry, experimental design and statistical analysis. They will learn how to farm clownfish, seahorses, shrimp, coral and algae.

The Florida Tech student chapter of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) will host their first applied mathematics camp this summer. Students will get the unique opportunity to get hands on experience at the cutting edge of modern applied mathematics and operations research, while learning the software language MATLAB, a favorite of engineering and technical companies.
