A Message from President Nicklow – July 03, 2023
Dear Florida Tech community,
After several months of planning and onboarding, I am so pleased to finally be with you on campus and am excited to get to work alongside you. Stacy and I continue to appreciate the warm welcome extended to us – thank you for all of the kind emails and other notes of encouragement and support that you have sent. The Florida Tech community is clearly a very special family, and we are grateful to be a part of it. I also want to publicly thank Bob King for his leadership and the crucial role that he has played over the past year in keeping Florida Tech moving in the right direction.
I shared with you soon after my appointment that I believe Florida Tech is at an inflection point, and with that comes rare opportunities. I am convinced that this university is poised to go from good to great, becoming the top choice for students interested in STEM disciplines and more from all over the state, nation, and world. To make that vision a reality, we must ensure the very best student experience, grow our research enterprise, and be a preferred partner for business, industry, and government. And cultivating alumni pride and philanthropic partnerships will be foundational components critical to our success.
We are in the beginnings of a new visioning and strategic planning process, and it will be crucial for every Florida Tech stakeholder to join with me in helping to define the specifics of that shared vision. I welcome the opportunity to listen and learn, and I am fully committed to the collaboration required to elevate Florida Tech and amplify our visibility and impact.
Expect from me open and honest communication built on mutual respect. I hope I can expect the same from each of you. I work hard to be inclusive of every member of our Florida Tech team so that a range of perspectives can be heard and understood before making decisions. As we move forward, we will do so together, always looking for ways to be even better and deliver an even more transformative education experience to our students.
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in person over the coming days and weeks. Much more to come soon. Until then – see you around campus, Panthers!
Sincerely,
John Nicklow, Ph.D.
President
