Florida Tech Lecture to Explore Blue Cypress Lake

– As part of its Humanities Lecture Series, Florida Tech presents Reflections of Blue Cypress Lake: Images, History and Poems, on Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. The
presentation, of a recently published book, will take place in the F.W. Olin Life Sciences Building auditorium at no charge.
The presenters will be authors Dr. Juanita Baker, Florida Tech professor of psychology, and Dr. Richard H. Baker. He is retired director of the University
of Florida’s Medical Entomology Laboratory and current president of the Pelican Island Audubon Society. They will discuss their 12 years of appreciation
for the Indian River County lake and its surroundings.
“We’re looking forward to sharing our own experiences and describing the history of this hidden natural treasure,” said Juanita Baker.
The Bakers are avid canoeists, travelers and photographers. All of the photos in their book were taken from their canoe on the lake and the poems are by
Juanita. They will be on hand to autograph and sell their book at the lecture.
Florida Tech’s humanities and communication department presents this lecture series. The F.W. Olin Life Sciences Building is located at the corner of
