An International Perspective on the Florida Tech International Festival
International Festival is an annual event where students, staff and the community come together to celebrate different and numerous cultures at Florida Tech. It provides everyone with the opportunity to enjoy cultural performances and exotic dishes from all over the world including but not limited to India, Greece, Saudi Arabia, France, Spain and so on. I myself had to the Greek food, which was amazing.
With performances starting at noon and going on until 5 p.m., there was some form of entertainment during the entire event. There were also quite a few people shopping as many of the cultural groups had tents set up with various goods from different countries. There was a kid’s playground area where kids were jumping in a bounce house, which is fun no matter your age.
From an international student’s perspective, I have to say that it was an amazing day. I have been to numerous international festival events in different schools back home and this was easily one of the best experiences I have had.
My favorite part of the day was when it started to rain during the Indian dance performance and the performers continued to dance anyway! Everyone helped cheer them on by joining them and dancing in the rain.
All the performances that day were simply fantastic and I invite everyone to come next year and enjoy! Hopefully, I will perform next year, doing Bhangra and sharing my Indian heritage with Florida Tech.
